I really like the Brendon Burchard quote. He says “First it’s an intention. Then a behavior. Then a habit. Then a practice. Then a second nature. Then it’s simply who you are.

This quote came to me at a time in my life where I wanted to give up sweets. It wouldn’t be the first time I tried to stop eating sweets but I never before had a roadmap to get me there.

I was a sweets junkie. A really bad one. One day after reading Brendon’s quote, I decided to change my sweets addiction. (Intention) I started by saying I don’t want to like sweets anymore. (Behavior) Then I took a break from eating them and repeatedly telling myself I am not a person who likes sweets. (Habit) Each time I wanted something sugary and decadent, I would remind myself that I didn’t like those foods. (Practice) Was that true? Not at all but it was the beginning of the end for my over consumption of junky sweets and desserts.

I continually practice that thought and I am working my way up to second nature and soon to, that’s just who I am, I am a person who doesn’t prefer sweets over healthy items! Am I over my addiction? Not 100% yet but I am a 100% closer to my goal than had I never started. What would you like to accomplish in your life? Start with an intention and then keep Brendon’s roadmap close by. It can work for whatever you want to accomplish or change in your life. You just have to get started by setting your intention. You won’t be sorry!
